Excellent value for money. The food was good if a little unimaginative.
The Parking absolutley awful. Did not like having to climb four flights of stairs to our room. Needs a lift.
The hotel was comfortable, quiet and in a good location, just 10 minutes walk to one of the main gates to York centre. Good breakfast too.
It would have been nice if breakfast went a bit later than 9am (especially on weekends). The spring beds were a bit noisy but we were in a twin room so not sure if the doubles were real beds or not.
We found the Wheatlands Lodge Hotel was a delightful spot where we spent four nights in May. The staff was friendly, helpful, the rooms quite large, clean and quiet. Breakfast was served in a lovely large room where one could choose from a number of items. Would certainly recommend to friends. It is very handy to all of York's history and charm.
Flexibility and friendliness of reception staff - able to book in earlier than stated and check out later the following morning - also allowed to leave car in their carpark while went sight-seeing. Short walk to to railway station and bars
Breakfast - service and food - was disappointing. Carpark was tight
very good location, closed to the city walls and quite. Rooms are comfortable and they are doing some work in the front
The overall presenntation of the hotel and the room was very good. The drawings of Scarborough and surrounding area by a local artist were very interesting. The location is excellent for all amenities and I have already recommended staying there to family.
Lack of parking but that was more due to arriving in the afternoon but nearby parking was free and not too far away.
The hotel was great value for money with a lovely bar to relax in before bed!
The location was good, a short walk into the city cente
The bed was uncomfortable. The curtains let far too much light through. The breakfast finished too early on the Sunday. There was a midnight curfew that was not advertised on the Internet when booking was made. The decorations in the room were poorly finished. No room service or telephone.
i think that Wheatlands Lodge is mainly suited to families and the older person, probably not to the younger end of the market, lovely rooms, nice breakfasts, only a 10 min walk to the centre of york, fresh towels every day was a nice touch, would stay again
probably the only drawback was no lifts,it is quite a trek up the stairs if your room is located on the top floor as ours was,but apart from that everything else was fine.
Clean hotel, staff very good, enjoyed our stay
Not nearly enough parking spaces at hotel. When ordering drinks in the bar were not permitted to put on our room, cash only - not a problem but a bit odd for a hotel.
The staff were very obliging, including searching for midnight hot chocolate which was most appreciated.
The room was uncomfortably warm for a younger couple, but may be more suitable for their older clientele.
Bought as a present for parents and they absolutely loved the hotel!
Comfortable feeling, like an old armchair.
The cleanliness, friendliness and location were all excellent.
Nice environement. The room was excellent and we felt like home. The way from the hotel to York Minster was quite interesting, because there were some spots that haven't been mentioned by any tourist guide.
May be someone of the staff could remain at the reception desk all the time...
